Happy New Year to you all!
We are happy to start 2018 in welcoming two families to our Stonebridge community.
Cold...Cold....Cold... We will be staying inside for indoor recess until the weather gets a little warmer. These temperatures are too risky for little children. We are having discussions about what the difference about cold weather is versus extreme cold weather and all parts of your skin should be covered.
This month we have some exciting units that will cover hibernation, migration and. We will be studying penguins and owls. We will also look at animals that leave their tracks in the snow. There will also be a week full of Jan Brett stories and art activities for the children to enjoy and learn. She is an amazing author and illustrator of children's books for many years. If you have a Jan Brett book, you are more than welcome to bring it in and share.
In math and language we continue to grow in our number counting and reading skills. The older friends are working with subtraction and estimating while the younger friends are working with patterns and symmetry. In the language area the older friends are identifying winter words and working on opposites and action words. The younger friends are learning more vocabulary around winter and weather words along with their letter sounds and recognition.
We have some fun days scheduled for the month. Their is crazy hair day, show & tell day, teddy bear day and another pajama day.
January 15- School Closed Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Again, if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to email, call or stop in. We are happy to see all your smiling faces.
Best wishes to all in the New Year!
