Hello Stonebridge families-
The butterflies HATCHED!!! We are releasing them on the playground today. This has been a wonderful unit for the kiddos to learn all about butterflies and their life cycle. We definitely will be repeating the unit next year.
June is here and we have just under 3 weeks left of school. These last couple of weeks we are talking about all that we learned, what friends we've made and how far we have come in the year here at Stonebridge. We are saying goodbye to some friends and explaining that some new friends will be starting summer camp and some will be staying on.
The last week of school we'll start sending home their change of clothes and any books of kiddos who will not be here for the summer camp or the next school year.
June 15th is our ceremony for the kiddos finishing their year here. It's a step up to recognize what is coming in the future for them the next year. The celebration starts at 3PM and goes till 5PM. We will be handing certificates out and a little something else for everyone. We will have a sign up for a little refreshment to have for the ceremony. Keep our fingers crossed for nice weather.
On June 14th we are celebrating Donuts with Dad! the first hour of the morning from 8-9AM we will be serving our dads, brothers, uncles, grandpas or family friends a donut and coffee before they head odd to work. We'll have a little something for our Dad's as well.
We have had a wonderful year here at Stonebridge Montessori School. I am so proud of all of the accomplishments and milestones that your little ones have achieved. The staff and I are happy to have been here to witness all the growth that has happend. Good luck in your future adventures ahead to those moving on and look froward to those who will be returning to us.
If you have any question, comments or concerns please reach out to me.
Best wishes to a fun and wonderful summer,
The warmer weather is finally coming... (shh, I don't want to say it to loud). We are looking forward to the volunteer day this weekend and getting the outside of our school cleaned up and the playground looking good. Thank you in advance to those who can make it and for those who can't, no worries.
A few house keeping notes; please update your child's change of clothes, check the lost and found, clean their water bottles or get new ones and change their slippers to be functional for school. (Many of them fall off or have holes in them)
Parent/teacher conferences are coming soon and Ms Katie and I would like to take the time to share with you our observations. Please sign up on the sheet next to the tuition box. If you have a time that will work for you and you can not be here to sign up, please call or email me and I will put your name in if there is a space.
The month of May will bring the life cycles of frogs, flowers and butterflies. We will be planting outdoors in our raised bed. We will study a river habitat during the month. The class is going to revisit what it means to "Fill your Bucket". We will be focusing on positive affirmation and the effect it feels when kiddos are nice to one another. They will visually see a bucket already full and how it feels if the bucket empties. In the end we will have a day of celebration of what the kiddos choose. (within reason ;~)

Welcome to the month of April! I want to start off by saying that our staff member Katie Treadwell has enrolled in an online Montessori course to fulfill her lead teacher position. She has a long term commitment with us. We are super excited that she has started this amazing adventure. On our professional day, four of us went to Newport Montessori School to take part in workshops that will help us better our teaching skills in the classroom. The high school students have been starting their training in Pro Solutions which is required by the Child Care Licensing Unit. We were recently visited by them and re certified for another three years to be a preschool program.
The weather, I think has turned the corner and we have no more snow on the playground. All of the snow gear can make its way home. Please take a look at our lost-n-found for extra mittens or socks.
This month we will start off by studying our teeth and dental hygiene. There are some fun works and art activities planned. From there we will look at different kinds of rocks. We will study the different kinds there are and look at sizes and shapes. After that we will talk about recycling and how we can take care of our earth.
Some of you might now that I have become a Usborne consultant. For those who don't know Usborne books, take a look at this website and see all of the different books available. I will be hosting a Facebook Party for the school on Wednesday, April 18th at 8PM. You will see a link on the school's Facebook page to join. We are welcoming some warm weather with the start of March. Let's hope it just stays that way!! The general rule with snow gear is, if it has snowed bring the gear in. Otherwise, sneakers or rain boots are fine for the playground.

Here comes February! We have started out the day with counting to 100 and getting ready for our 100 Day Celebration happening next Friday. The kids are getting excited and can't wait. We have a lot of other activities planned for this month as well.
Many thanks to Becky Hart for volunteering to come in and help disinfect the entire school with me. We should be on the right side of getting all of these "sicky bugs" outta here. Please be vigilant with your children. If they sound crudy and seem to have green stuff coming out of their noses, I would highly suggest getting them checked out. We are working EXTRA hard at keeping things sanitized.
Some of the things that we will be working on are greater than and less than with numbers, counting to 100, subtraction and multiplication. In language we continue to work on letter formations with our handwriting books, story telling with our writing journals and building our phonetic words and sight words.
In the cultural areas we will be learning all about Chinese New Year and the celebrations around this holiday. With my time spent in Asia as a little girl, I love to share a part of what my family traditions were. On the science shelf we will be studying the Arctic polar region and the animals and its habitat.
We have a new family to welcome in the middle of the month. Also there is a day that the school will be closed this month, President's Day, We are looking forward to some warmer days to sped some more time outside on the playground. Please continue to bring winter weather gear for your children to stay warm outside. Even if there isn't any snow.

Happy New Year to you all!
We are happy to start 2018 in welcoming two families to our Stonebridge community.
Cold...Cold....Cold... We will be staying inside for indoor recess until the weather gets a little warmer. These temperatures are too risky for little children. We are having discussions about what the difference about cold weather is versus extreme cold weather and all parts of your skin should be covered.
This month we have some exciting units that will cover hibernation, migration and. We will be studying penguins and owls. We will also look at animals that leave their tracks in the snow. There will also be a week full of Jan Brett stories and art activities for the children to enjoy and learn. She is an amazing author and illustrator of children's books for many years. If you have a Jan Brett book, you are more than welcome to bring it in and share.
In math and language we continue to grow in our number counting and reading skills. The older friends are working with subtraction and estimating while the younger friends are working with patterns and symmetry. In the language area the older friends are identifying winter words and working on opposites and action words.
